Ashland is a small rural community in the geographical center of the State of New Hampshire. Located between the Lakes and Mountain Region of the state, Ashland is a gateway to the Squam Lakes where On Golden Pond was filmed.

Demographics, 2000 census: From 1990 to 2000, Ashland's population increased by 2.1 percent to 1,955 (40 people). As of 2000, the median age was 36.8 years old. The Office of State Planning estimated the population in 2003 at 2027 people.
